I need a few books for research on the Underground Railroad. But I don’t need a book just talking aobut what the Underground Railroad is, what it includes, etc. I’m more looking for books that shows relationship of the Underground Railroad to the Civil War, secessionship, etc. Just a lot of info that shows effects of the Underground Railroad…are there any good and informative books you know? :]

I read this poem about a year ago, and it had two boys putting a fake man onto a set of railroad tracks and watching as a train ran it over. They were expecting to have a good laugh at the reaction of the conductor, but when the man running the train was terrified at the thought that he had just killed a man, then realized it was a dummy and fell to the ground crying, the boys could only sit and watch from their hiding place and one little boy puts his hands over his ears to block out the agony of the conductor. I would dearly love to know the name and author of this piece of work, because it was amazingly well written.

Dr. Evil asked:

I would like some kind summary or online booknotes about the short stories from The Celestial Railroad. The one I’m reading now is Roger Malvin’s Burial. I’m finding it a little bit hard to follow. I’d like something to help me understand a little better. I’ve already searched the book in the major book note sites, like Sparknotes. Thanks.
